Installing Win98

By Checkers
Jan 2, 2005
  1. When installing Win98, I type setup.exe and 1/3 of my screen is blocked off in
White. I have tried different hard drives,cd roms,cd disks with no luck.
I have a ECS L7vmm3 MB. Also can not install Winxp, it loads about 1/2 way
and I get error message, like can't find dvd.ll file. I would like to be able to
install Win98 first then install Winxp over it.

If your XP is an upgrade, you don't need to install W98 first.
At some time XP-install will ask for your W98-disk to verify that you can upgrade.

It will be much cleaner and nicer to simply install XP, instead of upgrading from 98. Do as RBS said and go for a clean install of XP.
