Intel are to introduce a new chipset in 2006, codenamed Blackford, it has been revealed. Previously only spoken about in rumours and whispers, Blackford is now a reality and has been confirmed. The chipset is apparently set to take its place as the chipset for the dual-processor server market. It boasts a 1066Mhz front side bus, as well as a improved design for the FSB and north bridge. It will also make better use of fully buffered DIMM technology (FDB), and will provide DDR2 support that Intel claims is better than anything AMD has to offer.

Seeing as they claim it will be out in 2006, I would place my bets on 2007.
