Intel core 2 duo e6850 runnin in high 40's celsius

this temp is pretty high isnt it any body please advice. I just put this system together like as in its been running for about an hour! evga 680i mobo. i dont know maybe this higher temps is normal for a brand new system. anybody with a little advice would be greatly appreciated. thanx

Download and run everest from majorgeeks.com to see if there is anything else running a bit hot as well. Your temps are not that bad if you are working the system hard.
When you assembled it, did you perhaps use too much heat transfer compound? It only needs a small amount.

high 40s is nothing to worry about unless you have a $50+ heatsink/fan on it. Thermal compounds have a break in time too, where they become more effective after several heat up cool down cycles.

40 degrees isn't actually that hot for an CPU epscially Intel. My tower pc (see specs below) p4 runs at high 50's at idle!
