Source close to Intel Corporation said the company plans to formally launch its 90nm desktop processors code-named Prescott on the 2nd of February, 2004. As expected, the firm will ship a family of Prescott chips at different frequencies under Pentium 4 with SSE3 brand-name.

On a related note, Intel says it will report fourth-quarter revenue of between $8.5 billion and $8.7 billion, the high end of its previous forecast. Intel’s performance and outlook are considered to be a key indicator of the health of the tech industry.

Can you feel the heat allready ? ;)

Seriouslly though, that will make the prices go down on Northwoods so it's a good thing.:)

Well I only hope they dont charge so damn much like the P4EE at over $1,000.

AMD seems to have taken a lead in the 64-bit market, im a AMD fan by heart but Im hoping that Intel will have some ground, we all know they dont have the server market going for then as much. but both companies need competition so those prices can go down, otherwise we all would be paying one of em for $1500 chips.

There's a 3.4GHZ Northwood that should be released pretty soon. Once the Prescott comes out, the 3.4GHZ part will be selling for the same price as the Northwood.

Here's what the prices should be around February 2nd.
