    Hi,

I was just wondering, what is the difference between normal quad core, and the ones with "extreme" stuck on the end. Both from Intel.

This also applies to Core 2 Duo from Intel.

I can't spot it (except for the price), so someone help me out here.

im not to sure but i think it has somthing to do with the multiplyer

the extreme cpu's have an unlocked multiplier, which is useful when over clocking. With an unlocked multiplier, you can adjust the multiplier either up or down. With a locked multiplier, you can only adjust down.

if you use a X9 multiplier with the extreme you will see no problem it wont fly out of the motherboard
