I have a desk top hard wired to my router. I ran a system scan with Advanced System care 8 and then my internet access stopped. I am thinking virus, but maybe some change to my system resulted in a problem.
I did the following:
1. System restore prior to running system scan
2. Router check- all working can get to router with wifi on other machines,
3. Checked cables, switched cables to make sure ok
4. Turn off and on computer and router to reset
5. Tested TCP. Ping to 8.8.8.8 and Google.com work. Nslookup google.com showed a list of IP addresses
6. Cannot access INTERNET EXPLORER. When I try to open it says not responding and closes
7. Tuned off IE and back on in an attempt to reset I.E.
8. Checked DNS settings - results ok. 127.0.0.1 local host and :: 1 local host
9. Turned off mcAfee firewall- still no access
10. Did a TCP IP and Winsock repair.
11. Ran CCleaner and adwcleaner.
