Internet Connection

Guys can anyone help me with my problem?
When I try to run my IM services or any java applet download, it gives me an error that it cannot detect my internet connection even though I'm online at the moment. I have reset the proxy and done all the toubleshooting I can think of and none has worked. Can you guys help me please?

What JRE are you using? Microsoft or Sun? You ought to use the original Sun java instead of the MS joke..

The Sun JRE has its own proxy settings that may be different from the browser - see Control Panel.

Maybe you have blocked the internet access for Java in your software firewall?

Thanks Nodsu, but at the moment, I don't have any JRE. I am trying to download the JRE2 appletbut it won't let me saying that it cannot detect my connection. I have even tried to use the no proxy option on my settings but it still won't work, even to download some pluggins for some apps.
Any help would work guys, thanks

An applet is a java program served on a webpage. You need to have Java installed before you can make use of any applets.

Go to http://www.java.com/download/ and get the offline installation thingy.
