internet disappears + im left looking at the desktop

i have windows xp home edition, + sometimes when i go onto internet explorer + go to a website, sometimes the site just disappears + im left looking at the desktop. does anyone know what is wrong? i would appreciate some help, if possible. thank you

I had a similar problem a few days ago.
- Try downloading an alternative browser such as firefox or opera (www.opera.com) etc.... If either one of these work, I suggest you just stop using IE as all in all it is a less secure, less user friendly browser.

If not, have you performed any sort of virus scan/spyware scan/used a tuneup facitily (ie, disabled some startup items etc..)

If so I suggest that you use system restore (if you can) or some Backup Centre type thing to restore to an earlier date or undo any changes.
