Solved Internet Explorer redirects

I have checked and IE is my default browser. I rarely use AOL just thought I would check to see if it worked when IE didn't.
I converted the screen captures into a jpeg files and into a .RTF file. Because I think it would help explain what I see, but I'm not sure if that will work for you.
Let me know if either of those will work. I'm not attaching them as I don't want to take up room if it won't work.
Thanks

One common cause of this problem is add-ons. If neither one of the following works, go to Tools> Manage add-ons and disable all the add-ons. Then add them back one at a time until you find the one causing the problem. Obviously it's an IE problem since AOL works and not a connection problem.

See if either one of these will work:

Internet explorer cannot display the webpage:
Click on Start> Run> type in cmd> then type ipconfig /release ipconfig /flushdns ipconfig /renew. Then delete cookies and clear the cache of your browser.

NOTE: on the above command, there is a space before each /. That space needs to be there.

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage:
Control Panel> Internet Options> Connections> LAN Settings> Uncheck Automatically detect settings> OK> Apply> OK

If neither of these works, tell me what it says at the top of IE. Also, is this something new?

Clicking on this link takes me to the download for OTCleanIt. I am using the Firefox browser. I don't understand what problem you're having. Do you get the download box?

AOL appears to be locking out any other browser. I don't know why, but you can change it as I pointed out.
Maybe it has something to do with the 'SUDS' files.

As far as I know, AOL Explorer is currently the name of the browser used in AOL and is available as an independent download or packaged with AIM Triton. When the browser starts up for the first time, it asks whether or not you would like to use it as the default browser and encourages users to display AIM Today content, if installed with AIM. Both of these are optional and can be denied.

Go in and change this if you want.

No I don't get the download box. I uninstalled AOL and AIM to see if that would help. Still the links don't work.
I could install Foxfire but I'm worried that there is something else going on.

I haven't seen a 'cannot display' message as bare of info as this is! We went through the entire thread and you didn't mention that this was happening. Looking at the image makes me thing that IE has somehow been blocked from opening. The one thing I cannot identify is the SUDS in your AOL profile.

IF you can't get any info on this yourself, try going into one of the AOL Help forums and ask what SUDS is and if it can limit the launch of IE.I'd like to know- I just couldn't fine it.

I do not believe this is malware related.

There is a line that say 'More information' on the page. Did you click on that?

Edit: Looking on the Taskbar in the image you left shows 2 instances of IE> the one you have open and another one. What is the other one?

I agree that it looks like something is blocking IE from opening the address. I am trying to find if there is more information on SUDS. What I have been able to determine is that the SUDS directories contained the install files required to install AOL's AIM. AOL and AIM has been uninstalled and I can no longer find them in any hard drive.
The IE window under the new IE window is the location from where I clicked on the link "OTCleanIt"
I have attached a new screen shot with the more information opened.
My network connection is working as I can open other windows, search and open websites.

Does IE give this message for every site you try to open?

Are you using shortcuts or Favorites/Bookmarks to open the page?

If you launch IE, can you type in a new URL and go to that site?

IE doesn't give me this message for other sites.
I am using favorites to open Techspot but I come up in the home page and have to navigate from there. I can type in any URL and go to that site. The links in google and MSN.com work fine.

Most likely the shortcut is corrupt. Instead of linking from Favorites, retype the URL and go to the site you want for your homepage. Open Tools> Options> Main> click on 'use current'.

Then delete the Favorite.
