iPhone 6 Plus durability put to the test against a .50 caliber bullet and thermite

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are the most durable phones Apple has ever built according to extended warranty and insurance specialist SquareTrade. But, how well does the new flagship stand up to something like a .50 caliber bullet? Fortunately, you’ve come to the right place for such an answer.

YouTuber RatedRR recently loaded his Barrett Model 82A1 with a single .50 BMG round and took aim at an iPhone 6 Plus. As you can imagine, a massive projectile zipping through the air at 2,800 feet per second can do quite a bit of damage and lucky for us, the destruction was captured in super slo-motion.

If that didn't tickle your fancy, perhaps you'd rather see how the 6 Plus stands up against thermite?

I was thinking it was more likely people get shot in the *** from time to time. And therefor was wondering if their iPhone would hold up to the adventure.

That's actually a valid performance test for residents of Phoenix, Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, and LA.

The areas mentioned should consider benchmarks for .223 rounds. Kids in those cities have ARs' but can barely feed and cloth themselves.

I can't wait for a company to secretly develop a consumer product to withstand a .50 caliber.

Or better yet, fired an anti-bullet round.

Nice to know that gun owners have finally realized where an Apple cultist's higher functions reside. ;)

Maybe some 9mm holding-the-weapon-in-a-horizontal-attitude for the less compute heavy benchmarking.

From what I've heard, the iPhone 6 is more susceptible to screen cracking then most smartphones. Specifically the side drop test. Most phones will survive with minimal scuffing if dropped on their side. The iPhone 6 apparently won't. I think Squaretrade is a big fat liar.

Because everyone accidentally spills active thermite on their phone every now and then.

Come to think about it, I don't know anyone who carries their phone around in their back pocket, shirt pocket yes.
I highly doubt a skilled sniper using a 50 cal. Barrett aiming to take down a mark is going to be aiming down his scope, checking out his marks *** unless he's a... ahem. I digress.:D

I wonder if the iSheep owner tried to put in a warranty claim afterwards stating they were just trying to put the sim card in and didn't know the back cover was not detachable... It wouldn't surprise me if he/she did.

The last time my friends and I were playing with thermite my friend accidentally spilled some on his iphone 4, it totally got fried. These things just happen, I'm surprised there isn't more incidents of this nature being reported.

So, I guess this guy likes "joking around" especially when the particular $10K gun and round combination are well-known to be almost impossible to stop except, perhaps, by the armor of an MRAP or a tank. Out of curiosity, I did watch the video, but anyone expecting anything different than the result must be really naive. I'll chalk this up to yet another man suffering from testosterone poising that also has entirely too much time on his hands. At least, it appears so far, it keeps him from doing far worse things with that highly dangerous weapon.

I suppose, at least, that this clearly demonstrates that anyone who has the unfortunate experience of coming up against this, or similar, weapon in the field should abandon all hope of being saved by the iPhone in their pocket in favor of much more substantial armor if such armor is available.

In case anyone is wondering, I am a man.
