Recently attempted to install a NEW IPOD on a system that already had a working IPOD program on it on a single user account.

Here is what the system looks like.

Running Win XP Home with Service Pack 2.

There are 5 accounts on this single partition system, one of which is the administrator account which, incidently, the IPOD software is not installed on.

The software works alright on one of the accounts but when I attempt to install it on another account it will not load and fails with a message to send the error to Microsoft and gives me a 1706 error.

I would almost appear that the software can only be installed on one account on a single partitioned system and be expected to work correctly.

Can the user save several different music folders from several different people on the working account and have their individual IPOD up and download from their specific folder?? I know nothing of the intracacies of IPOD and am a babe in woods with this product.

Thx much everyone for your comments.

Eric.

Sorry, not sure what you mean?? Sticky note??? Do I require a special browser to view??

Thx much

Sincerely Eric.

Let's clarify. You have iTunes installed in a multi-user login XP system and
there's a new iPod to replace the existing one.

>Can the user save several different music folders from several different people
>on the working account and have their individual IPOD up and download from
>their specific folder??

The iTunes music library is specific to the current login user, eg:
\Documents and Settings\current-user\My Music.
This creates separate iTunes collections per-user.
I have access to the iTunes software from all users on my system, but not
all access the same music collection.

In addition, the iPod gets a setting to the FIRST iTunes it is connected to
which makes attaching it to a different System or current-user environment.

If each user has their OWN iPod, it would appear that they should all be able
to download and sync their specific iPods.

You may need to reinstall iTunes using the Admin login, and install into
\Program Files for common access using an LUA account.

So Sorry

Fellas and Gals ,

So sorry I'm in the wrong spot. Seldom come to this website. Please accept my apologies.

Eric.
