Is there anything wrong with my computer...

  1. Hay here's the Hijack this log (attachment)...

    It takes my computer 1 minute and 52 seconds to boot up...

    So I was wondering can you speed this up!!!

    also what are your (personal) recommendations for making my computer faster
    than regular...

    SYSTEM SPEC'S
    INTEL PENTIUM 4 CPU 3.20GHz
    1.5 GB physical RAM
    ABIT RADEON X600XT 128MB

    MS WINDOWS XP SP2

    I ALSO, USE
    SPYBOT S&S
    EWIDO SPYWARE 4.0
    CCLEANER (after every internet visit)
    AD-AWARE (update every time I Can)

    also used TweakXP vs.1.5

    by the looks of things your running too many programs on startup, plus id go for a 256mb graphics card. also consider changing your browser from IE to opera or Firefox as IE has a few flaws.

    thanks but i can't buy anything.

    I am running Firefox.

    And I think I need those programs

    Should I Switch from NORTON TO SOMETHING...

    DOES NORTON SLOW ME DOWN???

    Yes, Norton is quite the system hog. Try the free AVG antivirus program, it is highly recommended by other users here. http://www.grisoft.com/doc/1

    Can I install it Directly???...

    Does it have a firewall...

    I have the internet security 2005 version...

    I want to have a firewall up and running...

    Will the firewall conflict???...

    or do i have to get a new firewall too... But remember i can't pay anything!!!1

    you can get most programs from somewhere for free, but thats your choice. best bet is using AVG free edition. and if there are any processes your unsure of in task manager then google it and see what ppl say. dont forget there are millions of ppl to help you at your fingertips

    No it doesn't, you can try Zonealarm or Kerio for a free firewall

    Hello and welcome to Techspot.

    Run HJT with no other programmes open. Click the scan button. Have HJT fix the following, by placing a tick in the little box next to(if there).

    Close HJT.

    Reboot your computer.

    Now, in order to speed up your system do the following.

    Download the Free AVG antivirus programme and either the free Zonealarm, or Kerio Firewall programmes. You can get them HERE, HERE and HERE.

    Disconnect from the net and uninstall your Symantec/Norton crapware from add remove programmes in your control panel. You may need to uninstall in several pieces rebooting inbetween.

    Once Symantec/Norton is completely uninstalled, Install whichever firewall you chose, followed by AVG. Reboot your system the required number of times and reconnect to the net. Run the AVG updates.

    Boot into safe mode and run a full system scan with AVG. Delete whatever it finds. Reboot into normal mode.

    Go HERE and follow the instructions.

    Your system should now run much faster.
