It says installing updates but never shuts down

I have a windows xp home sp2 machine which says "Installing Updates" but it never shuts down. Should I power it off or what? The problem is that update 1 of 15 is still installing after five hours!

what updates are they? I've had that issue, with the pc I had now, make sure the language installs arent in updates.

yea it depends on the updates and of course your internet connection? What connection do you have?

Please give me the KB number of the update and I'll assist you. There are several updates currently that are causing problems for both Windows XP and Vista users.
