iTunes not recognizing iPod

not sure if this is a good place to ask this question but im desperate!

my iPod is working perfectly except for the fact that itunes wont recognize it.
when i connect it to the PC it comes up in My Computer but not in itunes.

any idea on how to remedy this?

i've tried installing different versions of itunes (older one that used to work but dont anymore)
and i cant restore it because the ipod updater says "Invalid iPod service version"

please help.

Umm im not a professional at Itunes so I wouldnt really know, you sure it's in the right USB slot or something?

If this started recently, you could do a system restore back to before it happened, or try to reinstall the iPod drivers.

ive tried putting it in different usb and firewire slots. the thing is the computer recognizes it and i can open it and use it as a HD like normal but itunes just wont recognize it so i can put music on it.

last time i tried to do a system restore when my mouse stoped working it would restore i tried a couple of different dates but non of them worked. any ideas why thats not working either?
