Jpg's not recognized

I have a strange problem. Any new jpg's I download can not be seen in any of my picture viewing programs. I have installed Picasa, cpic and Picajet and they all see all of my old jpg's but none of the new. I have uninstalled and reinstalled them with the same result. When I use explorer and go to My Picture directory, they are there and when I click on them they open up in Picasa, but when I start Picasa they are not there. ANy help would be appreciated.

Windows Photo Viewer should open them check at M S if you have current drivers or maybe your computer does not have the 3rd-party or external codecs that the images we first recorded / encoded with?
