Keep having to reset router for internet

often when i "Switch User" in XP and log back in later, the internet stops working. So then i have to reset my router using the on/off button - and the internet will suddenly work again.

This setup has worked fine for a few years, but only recently ive been getting this problem. Any ideas why this might be happening?

My router is an Origo ASR-8400 (non-wireless)

Firewall software, such as, Zone Alarm can have this effect if the router is not in the trusted zone. A second computer can be used to confirm that the router is the problem.

start with the simple stuff first; update the router firmware and your NIC & WiFi drivers

the system is not responding correctly to a /RELEASE - /RENEW cycle.
