Keep losing internet connection

  1. Hi

Wondering if anyone here can help me. Recently, out of the computer drops its internet connection. It happens if I am not using it for a while, or when it hibernates, screen savor comes on, etc... I have an always on cable modem and never had a problem with it in 3 years.

The only way I get it back is to unplug the modem, and then restart the computer.

It is getting a signal, but not seeing the IP address, I am assuming.

    Thanks for any help

Could be a wiring problem, this has been the case for me and a few friends. Could also be the ISP as well.
Firstly i suggest new cables and then possibly contact your isp to see whats going on.

On the system goes into hibernation, the restart needs to REFRESH the connection. Normally this works without a glitch. Next time, try
Run->cmd /k ipconfig renew. When it completes, ping your ISP.
