Keyboard, shutting down and crashing issues

Hi forum,

Here is my problem:

1) My laptop keyboard doesnt work in windows xp normal mode, sometimes it prints a few letters, then stops. (works fine in safe mode and bios)

2) It doesnt shut down in normal mode, have to take the battery out to turn it off! (fine in safe mode)

3) I cant open System in control pannel in normal mode (works in safe mode)

4) It crashes often in normal mode

I have tried reformatting all partitions and installing windows xp pro again and the problem hasnt gone away. I have also tried re-installing the keyboard driver.

Any suggestions?

Simple, try installing another keyboard... This belongs in the Mobile Computing Forum

By installing do you mean physically taking the keyboard out of my laptop and fitting a new one?

Why would it work fine in safe mode if it was a problem with the keyboard? The power off button also doesnt work, that isnt part of the keyboard...

well that (replacing the keyboard by either repair center or DIY) or plug in a normal, corded keyboard into the USB or PS/2 port etc.
