Lag Spikes

So I'm playing an online multiplayer game and my ms jumps from 40-500 and fps is 90 on medium settings and when I lag everyone who is on the internet is having lag spikes. Is it the router?
Configuration: 8 GB RAM, Intel i5-3330 3.00 GHz Intel(R) HD Graphics 2500
And I am connected to my router with cat5

No, I am playing at my place they are playing at their house. But no need to discuss anymore, I only had to reset my router
