Ok, I have 2 computers. One running 2k(directly connected to the router), the other running XP The router is a linksys wrt54G router with earthlink dsl modem (netopia) connected to it.

The problem: While the net connection works with both computers without a problem, the XP computer can ping and connect to the 2k computer without a problem and print to the 2k computer's printer. The 2k computer can't connect or even ping the XP computer. This problem occured after I installed the dsl modem. No firewalls are involved.

    Didn't help.

As a side note, the xp computer won't start its firewall services. Would that be related?

Do you have fixed or dynamic IP, and if dynamic, is DHCP enabled?
Same workgroup, same subnet on all PCs?

Tell us please which settings you have on each PC.
    In a command-window, type in:
    ipconfig /all
It will show you the local settings.
