laptop cd doesn't work properly and can't boot. how make it boot from extern cd

HY EVERYBODY. I have a litlle proble with my laptop. the cd drive doesn't work properly , I have entered the xp boot cd, copied the files with a lot of dificulties, but worked. and said that needs to restart . and did not do it. blocked.

and now comes my question> can I boot from an extern cd drive. I have one but I don't know if that it is possible.

Some laptops you are able to remove the CD. What kind do you have, you can call the company and swap out the CD drive yourself.

my laptop is a Compaq Evo N1020 v. you mean suck the cd drive and then.....what? connect the another one?

Usually laptops are able to boot from USB devices. You may have to enable the feature in BIOS setup and/or press some special key at startup to get a boot menu that lets you choose the USB device.
