Laptop password troubles

i bought a used dell latitude c600 and it still had the password in.i was told several things to try from the guy i got it from like names, phone number,etc... he was not sure which he had used. of course none worked. now i have a computer i can do nothing with unless i can get past this. any ideas on how to reset or bypass this somehow.
