Hi everyone,

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 that refuses to come out of stand-by.

Whenever I close the lid, it goes off, but when I open the lid again, it can't display anything. The problem is componded by the fact that its the display that is off since it it was music I was playing there before, it will continue playing after I open the lid.

My deduction was that there might be a problem with either the hardware or some electrical connection to the display. I have tried diassembling the laptop to make sure there is no loose connection, invain.

I could use some advice or help please.

Thank you.

Use canned air to clean the port.
Reboot in SafeMode to see what you can see.
Disable the standby choice in your BIOS or Dell F12

How old is the laptop? Have you been using the Standby/hibernation all the while?

It could be the simple switch that senses the lid open/close.
It's a single pole-double throw switch and the UP contact can be failing.
