Laptop takes lots of time to transfer files through Bluetooth

I have a HP laptop and connect it to my desktop through Bluetooth. But it takes lot of time to transfer files especially pictures. Can someone tell me how to boost it?

Bluetooth Core Specification Version 2.1 + EDR is fully backward compatible with 1.2, and was adopted by the Bluetooth SIG on July 26, 2007. It supports theoretical data transfer speeds of up to 3 Mbit/s.

That explains why it's so slow.
