Lenovo is all set to enter the fitness wearables market with a smartband it appears. A few weeks after the Lenovo Smartband SW-B100 was spotted in an FCC filing, the device has been quietly listed on the company's website.
The device is capable of tracking your sleep patterns as well as exercise routine including calories burnt, steps/distance covered, heart rate, and more, and will allow you to graph data over daily, weekly, or monthly periods. In addition, you can pair the smartband with your smartphone and use it to display call, SMS, and appointment alerts, exercise reminders, or alarms.
Aside from tracking your health-related stats and showing notifications, the smartband, which can also function as a smart clock, can be configured to auto-lock/unlock PCs without manually entering passwords -- a feature similar to what Xiaomi already offers with its $13 Mi Band.
Lenovo is targeting the youth with its first fitness tracker. "The Lenovo Smartband is for young people who take care of their personal health and are interested in new tech trend products", the product description says.
The Lenovo Smartband SW-B100 will be available in grey and blue, and will sync with Android devices running Android 4.3 and above, Apple devices running iOS 7.1 and above, as well as Windows 8 devices. However, there is no word yet on pricing, release date, and the regions where Lenovo plans to offer the smartband.
