lite-on 1633 not recognized

    How about this winxp, 512 meg ram
    lite-on 1633 dvd, nvidia 5200 video

    will play dvd movies
    will play cd audio

    but when drive "explored" shows 0 bytes in properties
    and have received 'no media' error....I am very reluctant
    to fix this (if possible) by restoring to an earlier point
    although I guess I will try if I have to

    Nero 6.0 was on my machine but I uninstalled it justin
    case it was involved...but no...
