Logitech has unveiled a new high-end gaming keyboard equipped with the company’s own Romer-G mechanical switches. Officially known as the Logitech G310 Atlas Dawn Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, it appears to be a direct descendant of the G910 Orion Spark that debuted late last year.
Specifically, the G310 looks like a slimmed down version of the G910. Gone are the macro keys along the side and top of the board as are the media control functions. The number pad was also given the boot – all part of the process to develop a lightweight and compact keyboard that’s better suited for travel to LAN events or to fit into smaller gaming spaces.
Logitech says its Romer-G mechanical switches are capable of registering key presses up to 25 percent faster than “competing” mechanical switches. They feature an actuation point of 1.5mm with an average lifetime rating of 70 million keystrokes which the company claims is up to 40 percent longer than others on the market.
The board also features a central backlighting system with the ability to control brightness. The blue section you see at the top of the board is a removable smartphone docking station. It’s designed to be used with the company’s Arx Control app for Android or iOS which effectively turns your smartphone into a second screen to display in-game information, system stats and the like.
The Logitech G310 Atlas Dawn Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard goes on sale next month priced at $179.95 and is backed by a two-year warranty.
