  1. Hello I'm working on a pc for a friend and their pc will not let them log in.
Once they click on a log in name it will say logging in... logging out... saving settings...
Have scanned with AVG, Spybot and Ad-Aware.
    Spybot found 4 removed 4.
    Ad-Aware found 634. removed 634.
    have ran check disk.
Got into registry using win pe and tried this fix
    Navigate to
    "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon"

    2. If there is a key named "OldUserinit", delete the "Userinit" key and rename the "OldUserinit" key to "Userinit".

    3. The "Userinit" key should now say
    "WINDOWS_PATH\system32\userinit.exe,"

"WINDOWS_PATH" is relative to where you have your windows installed.
    Mine would be "C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,"

    That key was not there.
Tried disabled automatic restart and still nothing.
Also have tried repair install but cannot find a cd that will give me the repair install option.
I believe it is XP Home.
Would post a hi jack this log... but cannot get in to do it.
    Thanks in advance

Also cannot log in in safe mode either.. not even admin account

friend got it solves would post what he did but i'm not sure!
