   my computer now takes 5-6 minutes to shutdown recently , it was not always like this it use to take like 2 mins or less i noticed that the red light that usualy blinks not blinking in the shutdown process, does anyone know how to fix this without reinstalling xp??? :blackeye: :blackeye:

do you have norton antivirus, it sometimes will slow down the shutdown when it's detecting the floppy, you can disable the floppy detection/scanning during shutdown.

have you installed or uninstalled any software or hardware before this started? long shutdowns can also be casued by driver problems or a driver that windows doesnt like.

There was a way you could force Windows to shutdown after a certain amount in your registry, i'm sure you would find it with Google.

But I don't know whether that's advisable. Consider it a last resort if you'd get really pissed ;)
