Lots of restarts and errormessages, but when it runs....

Hi,

My comp does several restarts with (random?) error reports.
Whèn it finally run's it seems to run OK.
There are some event informations and some warnings; but as i said, looks like (random?) several event happening simultatiously.

- I had an AVG7 exception error, did a check, but no virusses.

- I see some ATAPI error ID: 9 and a timeout remark.
This remarks i don't exact understand

Go HERE and follow the instructions for testing your ram, and running a disk check.

Please let us know the results of both tests.

did the testing

i did the testing of memory and hdd.

hdd some minor fixes where automatically made, no big errors.

memorytesting:

i've got two pieces of each 256 MB.
seperately tested both are OK
tested together give 256 MB errors.

took out nr. 2 and comp starts ok
(feels like just as quick (or slow) as normal.

You think it's the MoBo?

Sounds like one of your memory sockets is bad, or dirty. Maybe try cleaning the memory stick's contacts with rubbing alcohol, making sure they are completely dry before reinserting them, then test again. If one of the sockets is bad, then maybe you can get by with just one, buy a single 512MB stick of memory for now.
