Major problem, is it possible to fix?

Many months ago I was using Mozilla Firefox and it was not working correctly. I decided to uninstall it and reinstall the newest version. After installation, it would not work. I decided to install Netscape and it did not work. My computer will also not run many Mirosoft programs, i.e. Internet Explorer, Media Player, Messenger. Another strange thing is that I can open a folder, type in an internet address and connect to the internet. But it won't let me log into any site or open a new window. Has anyone ever heard of any of these problems before? I have a 5-6 year old Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 running Windows XP.

Well, if you can't use Mozilla Firefox, Netscape or Internet Explorer, then which browser are you using, Opera?

Have you checked for viruses/spyware etc?

Go and read this thread HERE.

Post a HJT log as an attachment into this thread, I`ll take a look and advise.
