What exactly do you want to recover or rescue???

    In general, yes you can.

Virtually all backup programs can write to CDs. If you want to restore the whole system, then you are probably interested in disk imaging.

Uhm.. No, the website and the community are there only to provide totally broken software :p http://www.ubcd4win.com is a userfriendlier version.

The same goes for the disk imaging software. The fact that "a guy" screwed it up once is not enough to declare several successful and widely acclaimed software packages as "not working".

i do know xp can be rescued with lots of floppies but a simple cd would be handy and logically should be able to do the same job should it not?
