Making use of friends list to follow their comments

Hello guys,

I was wondering whether it will be possible to make use of friends function in forums; allowing a user to know where people on his/her friends list are commenting and on what, so perhaps if a small box can list say last 5 or 10 comments from a user's friends, it can be useful.

Something similar is at work at LinkedIn, but its annoying in its own way because it sends email about 'everything' people in your network do, so instead of sending emails to everyone as such, I think having a small box in a corner or even at bottom of the forum page may be more practical.

It's a valid suggestion, thanks for the feedback.

We are preparing a few changes/additions to the forum and the vBulletin backend, but I hadn't considered something similar to what you describe.

It might be useful to separate comment notifications on news and different boards.

Sounds good.

I'm also in favour of the opposite end of the spectrum...an "Ignore" button that can be applied to any particular poster.
Could be invaluble for filtering out the "Guest" postings/drive-by's/trolls/spammers.
