Malware, Virus on WP Pro no Safe Mode option, No Start task bar or icons

  1. I have been trying to trouble shoot this problem all day. When I boot up my Laptop running Windows XP Pro, Trend Micro will run not due to erros encountered. I have tried to run Malware Bytes and get an error. It's seems to be having a problem registering DLL's too. I have run Stinger from McAfee and nothing detected. Once it finishes booting up there are no icons on my desk top and no Start task bar at the bottom. When I try to boot to Safe Mode the only option I have is Vista and no Safe Mode. But the Visat option doesn't make sense seince I have XP Pro.

    If anyone can help me out I'd greatly appreciate it.

    Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.


    **Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
    • Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.
    • Close any open browsers.
    • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
    NOTE 1. If Combofix asks you to install Recovery Console, please allow it.
    NOTE 2. If Combofix asks you to update the program, always do so.

    • Close any open browsers.
    • WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
    • Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
    • If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.
    • Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
    • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
    • Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.
    **Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

    Make sure, you re-enable your security programs, when you're done with Combofix.

    DO NOT make any other changes to your computer (like installing programs, using other cleaning tools, etc.), until it's officially declared clean!!!

    Download HijackThis:
    http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/tools/security_tools/hijackthis/download
    by clicking on Installer under Version 2.0.2
    [DO NOT download version 2.0.3 (beta)]
    Install, and run it.
    Post HijackTHis log.
    Do NOT attempt to fix anything!

    NOTE. If you're using Vista, or 7, right click on HijackThis, and click Run as Administrator

    Sorry, I didn't get back to you sooner. It's been crazy trying to get caught back up at work because of the snow here. But I wanted to let you know a couple of things. I don't have a Start task bar or anything. TrendMicro encounters an error on boot up and I don't think it is running but I don't know what processes to look for in task manager. And Task Manager is about I do have access to. I also do not have internet access as the Wifi also enounters an error on boot up. Please advise... I iwll have time this evening to work on this so what ever you suggest I wil be able to try this evening.

    Download both programs on working computer and move them to bad computer using USB flash drive.

    We're not dealing with any infection here.
    All logs look clean.
    I suggest, you repost your issue at Windows section.
