Map refresh lag...

In any game, whenever i refresh the maps my computer will lag and the mouse will skip and the pings are all over 200, then if i hit quick refresh it will act normal with pings around 50-80 until it gets to servers it hasn't seen and then it will lag again. Its really annoying cuz if theirs one spot left i probably won't get it. Anyone know whats the problem?

1 Gig corsair DDR Dual Channel Ram
A8N-SLI Deluxe mobo

I'm not sure I really understand "refresh maps", I think you mean "servers", but it sounds like your filters are at default. This means it tries to find all servers running the game and that can be a huge number! I like to set my filters to search for: "not full, not empty, not password protected" and if available (CS.S for example) with pings less then 50, or 100. This greatly reduces the amount of traffic on your search. Also turn off any active anti-virus software while on-line gaming, this is a system hog and your FPS and even ping will be severely affected. I even turn off my Firewall.
