I am attempting to map a network drive from an existing network running windows server 2003 onto a laptop running windows XP home. The problem is network server files do not show up on the xp home. I go to tools map network drive, choose the drive letter then go to browse folder and the network is not there. Any suggestions?

try:

click on start
click on run
type: \\computer name\folder and see if you can access the drive on the server from the home xp.

Home XP doesn't do domain but you can trip the OS to do it you'll need a third party software called X-Setup it might be for free still. That that does it forces XP Home to login with user ID and password on anytype of workgroup or domain you pre-set. Now remember if you do this it will work behind the sinces auto login, auto password.

or

try \\computer name$C or \\computer nameC$

Make sure in active directory you give that PC rights or the user ID you use.
