You do realize that the newer nintendo DSs use micro SD cards for storage right? The Wii had usb ports from which you could side load stuff along an SD slot.
But you are missing the important part, even if they were added later or not:And does the DSs not have their own cartridge slots. And originally the Wii SD slot was added to appease customers after complaints of low storage space as it could have only been used to save games (might even have just been to backup save games). It was only later added support to install "channels" and games to the SD card which is pants due to the slow speed.
You are replying yourself, they are not, they are using standard ports as additional to their proprietary systems.
