Maxtor HDD

  1. Has anyone else had problems with maxtor drives? They always seem to go wrong. I found one in a friends computer yesterday and one of the microchips on the bottom had exploded! I dont suppose there is a way to rescue any data? - The drive no longer shows in the bios...

    There's probably no way of doing so yourself. See if you can send it back to Maxtor for data recovery, eventually for a drive repair but I doubt it would be worth the trouble. Repairing it would probably cost you as much as buying a new one.
