Maxtor One Touch 4 error message!

I am getting an error message saying "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable." I have run CHKDSK /r to try and repair any errors on the drive; cmd showed a report stating chkdsk has finished. But when I try to access the drive I still receive the same error report. Is there anything anyone out there can suggest that could help me with this problem?! Thank you so much in advance for you help!

chkdsk drive name: /f /r

Segate now owns Maxtor you can check their site for some Tools to use. But you might have a faulty HDD. Try that set of commands listed above.
