I waqs doing some reading and searching and am curious if anyone knows:

    1. If I buy an abit board that needs a P4 processor can I use an AMD instead of an INTEL, if so, what is comperable to that in AMD numbers? What are the differences?

    2. How the heck does one break down the memory numbers for this board? It supports DDR 200/266/333, what in the world is that in terms of say.......PC1700?

Newer AMD and Intel processors are incompatible. If you buy a motherboard that takes an Intel CPU then that is exactly what it means. AMD + ratings are roughly the same as Intel MHz although that can be (furiously) disputed.

    As for memory speeds:
    PC 1600 = DDR 200
    PC 2100 = DDR 266
    PC 2700 = DDR 333
    PC 3200 = DDR 400
