I'm trying to decide whether to keep XP Home on my Dell Inspiron 5100, or upgrade it to Media Center Edition. Out desktop has it, and I got a hold of the disk, and am trying to decipher if i should load it on or not. I would love to have Vista, but my computer's hardware can't support it. What do you guys think?

XP's media center? That is really no different from XP home at all, except for the Media Center app itself.

Vista Home Basic should work fine on your laptop. ;) The big problem with Vista Premium and up is the Aero interface; it's pretty resource hungry.
You'll need more than just a disc. You need to buy it and activate it. If you're going to buy it though, why bother with the expense and time? Is XP Home not doing what you need it to do?

Vista Home Basic doesn't have the media center.
