8 GB is total memory, which any modern computer on the market already has. Not to mention, there is a big difference between the GDDR5 memory in the PS4, the DDR3 in the Xbox one, and the mix of DDR3, DDR4, and GDDR5 in computers. The tiered memory hierarchy of computers give computers a distinct advantage over the consoles. 8 GB in the video card alone just means that computer has 8 GB of ram plus whatever system memory. The consoles have to share one pool of memory.
