Meizu’s next smartphone, the Meizu MX6, is expected to launch later this month but thanks to a series of leaks, we already know what to expect both in terms of aesthetics and hardware specifications.

A recent Geekbench run reveals the MX6 carries a deca-core (10 cores) MediaTek Helio X20 processor clocked at 1.39GHz alongside 4GB of RAM. As Digital Trends notes, these specs were previously leaked via AnTuTu but the fact that they’ve also showed up on Geekbench further validates the claim.

Elsewhere, the smartphone is expected to carry 32GB of local storage, a full HD display, a 12-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel selfie snapper and a sizable 4,000mAh battery.

As for its design, leaks reveal a handset that looks strikingly similar to the Meizu Pro 6. Leaked internal e-mails obtained by Phone Arena indicate Meizu CEO Zhang Huang isn’t all that thrilled with the fact that the MX6 looks so much like the Pro 6, noting that if the MX series is going to remain that familiar, there’s really no reason in keeping the MX series around.

Once the e-mails got out, Huang took to social media platform Weibo to play some damage control, stating that the MX6 is the best MX-series smartphone to date.

One has to wonder why Huang didn’t address the matter sooner while the phone was still at a phase in the development process that its design could have been altered.
