Memory RAM

Hi everyone,
After adding an extra 256MB ram, my windows XP does not respond. I already took it out and the problem still there. Now, My Sony VAIO was working propertly before this fact.

I am not able of starting as a safe mode as well.

Please, somebody can help me out.

Have you tried reseting coms my removing the little battery that looks like a coin on the motherboard? It will put the settings back to factory defaults (boot order, time/date etc) and will reset the system.

Take out cmos battery for about 5 mins with system unpluged.

Thanks, I've already taken out the battery but now I have a light blue screen in which says that " one of your hardrive has no consistency. PLease make a scandisk .."
And wether I cancel or accept the scandisk the result is the same. My screen gets frozen and this screen is Windows XP with the light blue background like if this would be starting up.
