What would be better to have. 1 GB of generic(K-Byte) PC 3200(which I have) or 512 MB of top quality ram. I was thinking of buying new high performance ram, but I'm not sure I can afford 1 Gb .

I would prefer top quality such as Crucial. You may never have any problem out of the generic stuff, but at least with a brand like Crucial, you get a good warranty that is backed up by top notch service.

Crucial is my prefered brand, though I'm sure some others here will recommend other brands which they prefer.

I agree with the comment on Crucial.....top-notch....though I've been using nothing but Kingston for a long while and I've had no issues.
