Microphone sounds "garbled" inside games

Hey, I recently bought a new mic and have been using it to play Counter-Strike. When I am in a game and start talking the output sounds all fuzzy or garbled.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

I had the same problem when I tried voice in Half Life. Never did figure it out though I think it was just my sound card. Some said the game just had crappy voice programming. Who knows. Your best bet is to borrow a sound card from someone and see if that makes a difference.
