"Last week, we received feedback from our corporate customers that they would like more time to put this temporary blocking mechanism into place." - Microsoft.

August 16 was set to be D-day for the automatic delivery of Microsoft's Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), but now Microsoft has announced that it will block the automatic downloading of its new service pack for Windows XP, delaying it for nine days.

The move is to help corporate customers win more time, as they are not ready for the upgrade, and need to patch their machines not to automatically receive it, using the toolkit for temporarily blocking SP2 delivery.
