Microsoft Office 2003 is SCREWED

    currently trying to install ms office 2003 and its on the troublesome YS1401.CAB and has frozen, normlly it will continue or tell me the CAB file is missing, the installation has been frozen for about an hour now. is there any hope?

    Any Ideas wots wrong?

    Try to clean the CD with a soft lint-free cloth.
    Alternatively, copy the CD contents first onto the harddisk, then install from there.

    I thought you had Computing Sussed? ;)

    Anyway, its probably as RealBlackStuff says, its corrupted CD. If your RAM was bad, you would get the same thing, but for different files each time. Try the media in another machine, try to do an install from there. If its fine, then you might have a bad CD-ROM drive.

    Not nearly as functional or easy to use in today's business world though. There are many things you can add to MS Office files that make them open incorrectly in OpenOffice. Plus, you didn't address the question at hand.
