Microsoft slams Google for lack of Android security patches

Apple releases security updates for IOS and all phones get it. That is the "apple-like" magic. To get security updates on an Andriod phone you have to pray to three different gods - Google, the manufacturer, and the carrier. Simply stated, the Andriod update structure is extremely inefficient and full of holes.

Having easily fixable cosmetic issues is a completely different problem from having gaping security holes on the worlds most used mobile operating systems. Certainly this is a bit odd of Microsoft to just come out and say, but you're a little out of touch if you think W8's lack of a start menu justifies androids slow security release cycle.

Your a little out of touch if you think half of the world rejected Windows 8 because of the lack of a start menu. So were both out there in never never land. Nice to meet you!

The slam was related to security not UI...your UI arguments are irrelevant in this. Android needs to pick up its stance on security if they want to continue selling products to businesses and other organizations.

Pot, you are awfully black today

Windows 8.1 for phone is yes..not patched well...what he is saying is Windows 10 for phone WILL be patched more, but yes if you compare Android with Windows 8.x phones then yeah they are both failing on the update path... Android I would say is even better atm as it just released new flavors of Lollypop, 5.1.1, but will your flavor of android phone ever see those patches? If it's more than a year old probably not...

I was promised Lollipop half a year ago... and I'm still waiting for it. What good are free updates if we don't even get them? It may not be entirely Google's fault, but Google has allowed this to happen.

Microsoft has been the biggest disappointment in my striving to become a Chief Architect/Owner/CEO of my own company. Watching their ineptitude and failure owe the past decade and a half, has been absolutely stunning to me. The only good thing they have done was Windows XP, and I believe most people overrated that Operating System, simply because it worked. It will probably be the same for Windows 10, since Microsoft depends on what they have already created, rather than being original. I mean, Apple blasted by them, and they weren't even smart enough to hold on to their stock in Apple, which would be worth about 20-30 billion today. Microsoft is worth about 300 billion, so that would be ten percent more for them, so that failure is just as important as their absolutely awful Cellphone division. Windows Phone is probably the shittiest electronic device I have ever used. I just feel that they are simply attacking Android to prepare people for the massive amount of updates that Windows 10 is going to need, since it probably, in all likelihood will be a piece of ****, like anything besides Windows XP, and perhaps Windows 7. They will always have adherents becuase at the very least, their original features, and Microsoft Office, are always going to be important, but if Google figures out a way for virtualizzation of PC software that is built for Microsoft Operating Systems, to be installed on Chromebook, then I will definitely make the switch to Android and Chromebook, as I anticipate that I will once I gain my computer programming/engineering degrees, and have the knowhow to use Google and Linux and UNIX operating systems.

Microsoft doesn't really need to be wasting energy "slamming" anybody after releasing Windows 8. Seriously. . :)
What's wrong with Win8? I think is great. It's been proven to be faster and more stable than Win7. And if you didn't like the new UI you could just use desktop that looks just like the old windows. So please explain what you mean about win8. There are you tube videos of 3yr olds navigating Win8 beta with no problem. Because, I know you are smarter than a 3 year old. :)

Every time someone says that they are lying out their teeth.
Really how is that a lie. You go to personalize , change desktop icons, add "this PC"(My computer) and Control panel icons and what is the difference. Please explain? Because when you hit the window key the Metro UI comes up and if you hit the arrow in the lower left corner everything in the old "start menu is there.

Maybe because I have been alpha and beta testing new windows OS since win98 I can't understand the complaints. Also as a gamer fast and stable is the most important thing to me and win8 is both. I can also ways learn new UI. I have at least one device running Android, win8, win10 preview, wp8, wp 10, and palm (HP touch pad) and I have no problem moving from OS to OS.

Really how is that a lie.
Cosmetics are part of the interface. It is the cosmetics of the UI, that did not in Windows 8 and still does not in Windows 10 look the same as Windows 7. The UI in any Windows version never looks the same as the last. MS intentionally makes changes to the UI (even if it is only cosmetic), so they can falsely advertise the new OS as something completely different.
