Microsoft: Xbox 360 failures "well behind us"

in all honesty the xbox has better games overall and i have an arcade and just bought a 120gb for $60 on ebay and has lasted me 2 and a half years with only one failure. the only reason you'd get the rings is if you have NO LIFE and play all day or leave it in a enclosed area.. i asked why mine got RROD and it was because of an enclosed space.. so if you put it on a milk crate and clean the fans every few months then you shouldn't have a problem.. believe me i talked the the repairmen myself. you shouldn't have a problem!

Hi,

I find the "Well behind us" line kinda weak. I just had our older family XBox360 repaired by MS for "only" $106 incl tax after it went belly up out of warranty (non-RROD error).

We have had it back in service for a bit over a month or so.... boom... RROD Error...
BACK IT GOES.... Good thing they give you a year warranty for your $106 fee.

Wow. If you are going to spend $300 or so dollars on a system, you should be smart like me and make a DIY 80mm PC cooling fan ($40). Was it worth it? Well let's just say I did an experiment with the fans with my 360. I left my 360 on for 3 whole days with GTA IV running on DVD(NOT on HDD) and to check the results I just felt how hot the game was because as everyone knows the main heating problem was the GPU, which was right underneath the DVD drive. (didn't want to open console due to warrenty) And the results, it felt like I just turned my 360 on for about 5 minutes. From June 5, 2008 to today my 'falcon' chip 360 is stiil going strong. Even though I plan to have my 360 red ring to get the new 250gb 360 (Best Buy warrenty gives my full refund on 360 including the tax)
